Sass Jordan does not arrive politely.
She arrives with that voice — smoky, sandpapered, battle-tested and built for big summer nights when the amps are hot, the crowd is ready, and subtlety has been left in the parking lot.
The Juno Award-winning Canadian rocker comes to Peterborough Musicfest on Wednesday, July 8 at Del Crary Park, bringing a career’s worth of swagger, soul and rock and roll muscle to the city’s big summer stage.
Jordan first broke through with Tell Somebody, then kicked the door wider open with Racine, the album that gave us “Make You a Believer” and “You Don’t Have to Remind Me.” Since then, she has moved through rock, blues, television and theatre with the confidence of someone who never had to fake the attitude because the voice did most of the talking.
But Sass Jordan is still best understood live — part rock singer, part blues shouter, part no-nonsense lifer who knows exactly what to do when a crowd is standing in front of her.
On July 8, Peterborough gets the hits, the growl, the history, and one of Canada’s great rock voices, rough edges fully intact.
