Matthew Good: A Defining Voice in Canadian Alternative Rock

Wed July 22 @ 8:00 pm
Del Crary Park, Musicfest

Matthew Good remains one of the most recognizable voices in Canadian alternative rock, known for his distinctive vocals, guitar-driven hooks and sharp, cinematic lyrics.

He first broke through as frontman of the Matthew Good Band, one of Canada’s biggest rock acts of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Songs including “Hello Timebomb,” “Everything Is Automatic,” “Indestructible,” “Apparitions” and “Load Me Up” became radio staples, helping the band sell out venues across the country over four albums and seven years.

The group’s commercial peak came with Beautiful Midnight, which earned the Juno Award for Best Rock Album in 2000. The Matthew Good Band was also named Best Group that same year, cementing its place as one of the defining Canadian rock bands of the era.
