Matthew Good and His Band return to Peterborough

Wed July 22 @ 8:00 pm
Musicfest, Del Crary Park

Matthew Good doesn’t really do nostalgia. He drags it behind him like an amp with a blown speaker, still buzzing, still dangerous.

A multi-platinum Canadian recording artist with one of the most unmistakable voices in the country, Good built his name on guitar-driven melodies, cinematic lyrics, and songs that sounded like they were written somewhere between a breakdown and a revelation. As frontman for the Matthew Good Band, he helped define Canadian alternative rock in the late ’90s and early 2000s, turning angst, intelligence, and volume into something that filled arenas without ever feeling polished smooth.

The hits are stitched into the national bloodstream: “Hello Timebomb,” “Everything Is Automatic,” “Indestructible,” “Apparitions,” “Load Me Up.” These weren’t just radio staples; they were late-night dashboard anthems, MuchMusic-era confessionals, and proof that Canadian rock could be massive without losing its edge.

Over seven years and four full-length albums, Matthew Good Band sold out shows across the country and became one of the defining Canadian alt-rock acts of their era, picking up Juno Awards in 2000 for Best Group and Best Rock Album for Beautiful Midnight.

Matthew Good performs Wednesday, July 22, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Del Crary Park. Admission is free.
