This Week at The Black Horse: Crash N Burn, Open Mic and more

(July 10-16, 2026)

Crash & Burn Jam w/ Rick & Gailie
Monday, August 10 | 7–10 p.m.

Twenty years and counting. Rick & Gailie, JP Hovercraft, Brian Landry and Clifford Maynes keep Peterborough’s longest-running Monday night jam rolling at The Black Horse. Bring an instrument, bring a song or just settle in and watch the room fill up.

Open Mic with Johann Burkhardt
Tuesday, August 11 | 6 p.m.

Tuesday belongs to the players. Johann Burkhardt hosts The Black Horse Open Mic, with the stage open to local singers, songwriters, pickers and anyone brave enough to grab the microphone.

Wednesday Local Artist Spotlight: Yzedro Hurlington, William MacCurdy & Isaac
Wednesday, August 12 | 7–10 p.m.

Jazz. Funk. Fusion. Yzedro Hurlington, William MacCurdy and Isaac take over the Wednesday Local Artist Spotlight for a night that promises to wander well outside the usual musical lanes.

Thursday Jazz & Blues Night
Thursday, August 13 | 7–10 p.m.

Carling Stephen and Rob Phillips front the band for another Thursday night of jazz and blues at The Black Horse. Smooth when it needs to be, gritty when it should be.

Four Lanes Wide
Friday, August 14 | 8–11 p.m.

Four Lanes Wide takes over the Friday night slot at The Black Horse. Three hours of live music to properly kick the weekend into gear.

Dennis O’Toole & Old Soul
Saturday, August 15 | 5–8 p.m.

Dennis O’Toole performs songs he wrote — and songs he wishes he wrote — backed by Old Soul, featuring Michael O’Toole, Bryan Landry and Jim Leslie. An early Saturday set built for people who still appreciate a damn good song.

High Waters Band
Saturday, August 15 | 9 p.m.

High Waters keeps Saturday night moving with a mix of classic rock, newer grooves and original material. The Peterborough four-piece describes the recipe as half aged whiskey and half fresh groove. We’ll drink to that.

Chris Devlin
Sunday, August 16 | 4–7 p.m.

Cobourg singer and musician Chris Devlin closes out the week Sunday afternoon. An award-winning performer and fixture on the Northumberland music scene, Devlin has performed with Madman’s Window, The Concert Band of Cobourg and others, entertaining audiences from Toronto to St. John’s.
