The Feast Without Meat: VegFest 2025

Sunday September 14, 11am
Millennium Park

Picture this: The city’s green riverside hub turns into a kaleidoscope of colour, sound, and smell as Peterborough VegFest takes over for its 7th annual celebration of plant-based living. By the time you step through the gates, the air is already thick with the aromas of smoky jackfruit sliders, sizzling plant-based sausages, and sweet bursts of cinnamon from vegan donuts fresh out of the fryer.

This isn’t your average weekend food fair. Dozens of vendors line the park pathways—local farms with crates of just-picked produce, small-batch creators hawking kombucha in funky glass bottles, skincare makers blending cruelty-free botanicals, and bakeries pushing out decadent desserts that leave people queuing down the block. Food trucks tuck into the corners, dishing out globally inspired plates: Thai curries without the fish sauce, tacos loaded with tempeh, and burgers that make even the most die-hard carnivores pause before asking, “Wait, this is vegan?”

Beyond the food, stalls overflow with eco-friendly goods—reusable homewares, upcycled fashion, and plant-based supplements. Between bites, you might find yourself drawn into a conversation with a local activist about sustainability or sampling chocolate from a bean-to-bar maker who’s rethinking what indulgence means.

The afternoon rolls on with live music echoing across the park, kids darting between workshops, and a steady rhythm of talks that connect the dots between what we eat, how we live, and the world we’re shaping. By the time the sun dips low over the Otonabee River, you’ll leave not just full but inspired—carrying home more than a bag of market finds, but a sense of what community built on shared values can taste, look, and feel like.

Peterborough VegFest 2025. September 14th. Millennium Park. 11 to 4. A free event where food is the hook, but connection is the real feast.
