In the Key of Blue arrives with big dreams, bruised hearts, and the unmistakable ache of Blue Rodeo running through its veins. This new Canadian musical follows Jarod Scott, a young musician chasing the kind of breakout every band fantasizes about — until a high-profile invitation to perform at a televised election rally sends his life veering off course. What looks like a fast track to fame quickly turns rough, and as ambition, trust, and betrayal start colliding, Jarod is left trying to salvage what’s left with help from one of the few friends still standing beside him.
Born and raised in Prince Edward County, In the Key of Blue blends local talent with the iconic music of one of Canada’s most beloved bands, with Miss Emily starring in a production rooted in dreams, love, and the damage people do to each other on the way up. It’s a homegrown story with national echoes — part backstage drama, part emotional reckoning, and part love letter to the songs that have long soundtrackied this country’s longing, restlessness, and hope.
