(08/20/25) EC3 is continuing to put a brighter spotlight on Peterborough’s Black arts community, expanding its Spotlight on Local Black Artists Directory with a fresh round of artist profiles.
The ongoing project from the Electric City Culture Council is designed to do more than simply list names. It gives local audiences, presenters and organizations a place to discover professional Black artists working across a range of disciplines — and, importantly, a way to connect with them for exhibitions, performances, workshops, collaborations and community events.
With several new artists recently added, the directory continues to grow into a useful snapshot of a creative community that has not always received the visibility it deserves.
Visitors can explore individual profiles, follow links to artists’ websites and social media, and get a better sense of the range of work being produced right here in the Peterborough region. For anyone booking talent, organizing a festival, curating an exhibition or putting together community programming, it’s also a resource worth bookmarking.
EC3 says another edition of the Spotlight program is already on the way, and the directory remains a work in progress. Know a local Black artist who should be included? They want to hear about them.
