PETERBOROUGH CANDIDATES ASKED TO FACE THE MUSIC AT CANDIDATE KARAOKE

The Wire Megazine invites every council and mayoral candidate to take the stage on Wednesday September 16th.

The Wire Megazine is turning down the campaign speeches and turning up the music with Candidate Karaoke, happening Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Shoeless Joe’s Peterborough.

Every candidate running for Peterborough City Council or mayor is invited to take part. Local media will sit at the judges’ table, because apparently covering an election wasn’t enough pressure.

The policy binders can stay home for one evening. Candidate Karaoke gives candidates a chance to mingle, connect and have some fun away from the usual debates, door-knocking and campaign events. Some of the people sharing a microphone that night may soon be sharing the council table.

Each participating candidate is asked to submit two song choices in advance, including the song title and artist, so the tracks can be ready. The performance order will be selected at random on the day of the event. Candidates who can’t attend are asked to let the organizers know.

Perfect pitch isn’t required. A willingness to have a laugh and step up to the microphone will do just fine. The idea is to bring candidates together and give Peterborough a chance to see a different side of the people asking for their vote.
