YEBO: Pulga Muchochoma Brings Fire, Rhythm, and Heritage to the Stage

September 25th at 7:30pm
Market Hall Performing Arts Centre

Public Energy is turning up the heat this season with YEBO, the latest firebrand production from Mozambican-Canadian powerhouse Pulga Muchochoma of PULGA DANCE.

Muchochoma is the kind of artist who doesn’t just perform—he radiates. A dancer, choreographer, musician, actor, director, and all-around magnetic force, he’s made “YEBO” (Zulu for yes) more than a title—it’s a way of moving through the world. That word of affirmation has become his calling card, his way of pulling fellow artists and audiences into his orbit with the kind of unstoppable energy that makes you want to rise out of your seat.

This show packs a double punch: first, a solo that digs into Pulga’s own history and the echoes of his heritage; then, an ensemble piece that brings three dancers, an actor, and a musician into the mix for a layered exploration of ancestral memory and the present tense of being alive. It’s raw, rhythmic, and deeply human—the kind of work that doesn’t just stay on stage but follows you home, shifting the way you feel about your own story.

YEBO isn’t just a performance—it’s a reminder to say yes: to movement, to connection, to the traditions that built us, and the futures we’re still shaping.

Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $14 – $54 including HST and fees.
Recommended price is $34.
