Steve Marriner has never been the kind of musician to stay in one lane. Over more than two decades, he’s worked the edges and the center of modern blues alike—switching effortlessly from harmonica to baritone guitar, from frontman to producer, from sideman to scene-shaper. The result is a career that feels less like a résumé and more like a slow-burning masterclass in range, instinct, and staying power.
Best known for his JUNO-winning work with MonkeyJunk, Marriner has also spent years on the road with Colin James and shared stages with the kind of blues royalty most players only grow up studying—Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan among them. That pedigree matters, sure, but what makes Marriner compelling is how naturally he folds it all into something restless and alive. His sound pulls from blues, rock, and roots without ever feeling boxed in by any of them.
That creative momentum has only sharpened in recent years. Hope Dies Last landed a 2022 JUNO nomination, while his production work on Big Dave McLean’s This Old Life earned another win at the 2025 JUNOs.
