Fiddlin’ Jay Edmunds leads the charge like a storm-chaser with a bow, while the rest of the crew—Ron Kervin, Andrew Martin, Theresa Foley, Sheila Prophet, and Norma Curtis—keep the winds high and the harmonies higher. There are sea shanties and ghost tales, ballads about pirates and coal miners, and enough maritime mischief to make even a landlocked crowd sway like they’re on the deck of a schooner.
But it’s Seanchai Hugh Foley who anchors it all, spinning yarns between songs with the kind of wit and warmth that turns folklore into family history.
