Royal Wood and Fortunate Ones: A Night of Heart and Harmony

Wednesday, April 22 • 8:00 PM
Market Hall Performing Arts Centre

There’s a rare magic that happens when honesty meets melody — when songwriting isn’t just craft, but confession. Royal Wood has built his career on that fine line, and with his latest album Dear John, he leans in even closer. Described as “a letter to himself,” the record is both introspective and unflinchingly personal, reuniting him with five-time Grammy winner Ryan Freeland and featuring the talents of Ash Soan and Hutch Hutchinson.

It’s a lush, cinematic work that feels like sunrise after a long night — layered, reflective, and quietly hopeful. With over 30 million streams, song placements on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, and nods from the JUNOs and Canadian Folk Music Awards, Royal’s reputation as one of Canada’s most enduring voices is well-earned. His performances are equal parts concert and conversation — stories told in verse, stitched with piano and sincerity.

Sharing the stage with him are Fortunate Ones, the Newfoundland folk duo whose harmonies could thaw an Atlantic winter. Catherine Allan and Andrew James O’Brien sing like they’ve lived every word — songs of hope, resilience, and connection. Their 2015 debut The Bliss introduced them to the world, earning a JUNO nomination and two #1 singles on CBC Radio 2’s Top 20. Since then, they’ve crisscrossed continents, collecting hearts and stories in every room they’ve played.

Together, Royal Wood and Fortunate Ones promise a night that feels less like a show and more like a homecoming — a reminder that music, at its best, is both mirror and medicine.

Tickets: $44 incl. HST & Fees
