ReFrame Film Festival Announces 2025 Film Lineup 

Celebrated local film festival runs in-person January 23 – 26 2025, with over half of the program available online nationally January 27 – February 2 2025.

Nogojiwanong / Peterborough – December 12, 2024: ReFrame Film Festival reveals a lineup of more than 50 powerful and transformative social and environmental justice documentary films.  This season’s lineup features over 50 films, all showcased in the In-Person Program, which runs from January 23 – 26. Following it, the Virtual Program runs from January 27 – February 2, offering over half of the films from the lineup for online viewing.

ReFrame’s evening features centre on the festival’s core issues, including: environmental justice, place and identity, human rights, stories close to home and films investigating various social justice topics. The 2025 lineup is grouped into categories which emphasize shared themes, aesthetics, or origins. The following titles represent spotlighted films from across the 2025 lineup.

The Day Iceland Stood Still recounts the story of the Icelandic women who united to transform their society, told for the first time by the women themselves and laced with playful animation.

Agent of Happiness follows Amber, a happiness agent, as he travels the Bhutanese Himalayas surveying people’s happiness. On his remote mountain journey, he searches for fulfillment.

Dis-Ease is an archival documentary about the real consequences of how we imagine disease. It dives deep into the weird, wild archives of medical imaging, public health messaging, and pop-culture outbreak narratives to understand how ideas have moved between science, science fiction, and political ideology over the past century.
