The Historic Market Hall
Lighthouse burst onto the music scene in 1969 with a sound so explosive, it blew the doors off genre conventions. From 1970 to 1973, they snagged four Junos, earned four gold albums, and made history with Canada’s first platinum album for Lighthouse Live!—all while sending hits like “One Fine Morning,” “Sunny Days,” “Hats Off to the Stranger,” “1849,” and “Pretty Lady” zooming up the Canadian and international charts.
As the original fusion band, their daring mix of rock, jazz, and classical vibes rocketed them to the cutting edge of music trends. They were the first rock band ever asked to headline the Newport, Monterey, and Boston Globe Jazz Festivals, the first to jam with Symphony Orchestras, and the first to team up on a Rock Ballet. And let’s not forget, Lighthouse was the only band cool enough to be invited back for a second night at the legendary 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, sharing the stage with icons like The Who, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Chicago, and The Doors. Talk about rock royalty!
